Testimonials

Over the years we have received many letters from teachers and principals whose students we have taught. These letters are important to us, because they let us know the things that students enjoy, the things that teachers find interesting and the feedback from parents.

We would like to share some quotes from these letters with you.

I have had the pleasure of working with Stephen and the team at Footsteps for the last 15 years involving 4 Primary Schools. During this time, the Footsteps workshops have always been a highlight for students and staff.

The Footsteps instructor quickly establishes a rapport with the children and assists all of them to become involved, overcoming their inhibitions. The combination of current music and dance moves along with very enthusiastic instructors has the children moving like seasoned professionals in no time at all.

The curriculum support documents provide teachers with a good point of reference for class planning and programming.

I have used Footsteps to provide the following programs:-

  • general workshop sessions
  • School Discos
  • preparing students for their Graduation dances
  • developing choreography for specific School events eg: end of year concerts

In each of these roles the instructor has been professional, well prepared and willing to tailor things to meet the needs of the school.

You can always tell when the Footsteps program is happening at the School as the children take to dancing in the yard at break times and parents say that the lounge room has changed to a ballroom!

Thankyou for introducing dance into our school in a fun, up to date and inclusive way. We all enjoy the sessions and it is a great opportunity for teachers and students to learn together.

Susan Copeland, Principal, 21st February 2011

Footsteps was introduced to All Saints, Albany Creek in 2009. The children were just so enthusiastic for the Foot Steps Dance Program after the initial demonstration that we could not say no!
Ally presents lessons to the classes that are full of life, music and movement. The children, and teachers, are inspired by the creative moves to music and the lessons are paced well for all ages. The positive feedback from children and teachers has been unanimous. I have no hesitation in recommending this program to any school that wants children to experience the fun and excitement of dance that is well suited to primary aged children.

Stephen Montgomery, All Saints, February 16 2011

"Introducing Ballroom Dancing into the curriculum at Plympton Primary School has been one of the most successful initiatives introduced in recent years. The staff love it, the children look forward to the sessions each week and the parents continue to pass positive comments. I only wish that we had instructors like Stephen and Fiona around years ago."

Simon Dawson, Principal, Plympton Primary School, September 8th 1997

"The dance class is certainly a popular option for our girls and much of the credit can be attributed to your encouragement, interaction and sense of enjoyment."

Meredyth Geary, Head of the Middle School, Wilderness, October 7th 1998

"It has been a pleasure for me and the other Physical Education staff to have worked with Stephen and Fiona. They are a professional couple who have had a most positive effect on the students that they have taught. I have no hesitation in recommending them to you."

Gary Davison, Head of the Physical Education Department, Westminster School, June 20th 1996

"Their professionalism and approach throughout the program was excellent. The lessons were structured and ran very smoothly. I have no hesitation in recommending Stephen and Fiona to you as they are not only excellent dance instructors but also good role models."

Headmaster, St. Peters College, October 25th 1996

"Fiona and Stephen have handled our large groups very well during lessons. They have an excellent rapport with our students and have encouraged participation with their enthusiasm. Feedback from the students has been very positive and staff commented that students are keen to attend and that they enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere."

Mr.John Cadd, Director of Student Services, Sacred Heart College

"The mention of 'Ballroom Dancing' used to conjure up all sorts of images in one's mind, but when you add 'Ballroom Dancing with Stephen and Fiona', then the image immediately transforms. What it has come to mean at Richmond Primary School is 2 professional, talented and enthusiastic dance teachers, with a fantastic rapport with children, and an ability to teach dance and what's more make it so enjoyable... Not only have the children learnt to dance, and now love to dance, they have also learnt to be comfortable with their own bodies, built up self esteem and become very comfortable with the interrelationships between boys and girls. The feedback from the school community, having watched the senior students perform, has been one of amazement and how fantastic and confident they were."

Grace Finizio, Year 6 / 7 Teacher, Richmond Primary School

"Their fun, vibrant personalities put the most resilient students at ease. Their discipline was friendly yet firm and a high level of student participation was noticeable at all times. Parents were pleased to inform us that their children happily invited them to practice the dance steps at home."

Di Schafranek / Bob Tucker, Year 7 Teachers, Burnside Primary School, June 1998

"I can teach dance throughout the year but Stephen and Fiona really teach. They can achieve in two lessons what takes me six weeks. Their personalities, approach and professionalism are outstanding. The sessions really improve the students timing, coordination, rhythm, social manners and acceptance of each other."

Gail McMillan (on behalf of Deb Heading and Peter Brune), Year 6 / 7 Teachers, Seaford Primary School, December 17th 1998
